This is stated in the response of the head of the Swedish foreign policy department to the corresponding request of the country's parliamentary deputy Hans Wallmark.

RT got acquainted with the text of the document.

As Linde recalled, the JCPOA was concluded in 2015 between Iran and a group of six states, which included Russia, the United States, China, as well as France, Great Britain and Germany (the "European three").

However, after the withdrawal of the United States from the agreement, Iran began to "deviate" from compliance with the provisions of the treaty, the head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry added.

“Sweden and the European Union have repeatedly expressed regret over the US withdrawal from the treaty, and we want to facilitate their re-accession to the JCPOA,” the minister said.

According to Linde, in the framework of the problem under consideration, Sweden mainly operates through EU channels.

However, this does not prevent the minister from personally maintaining “close bilateral contacts with the European troika and other members of the agreement, including Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

So, in the near future, Linde intends to take measures to involve representatives of the new American administration in discussing the situation around the JCPOA.

“We are going to discuss the issue of the JCPOA with the new administration of the United States as soon as possible,” she concluded.

Earlier, Jake Sullivan, whose candidacy Joe Biden proposed as his national security adviser, said that the new American administration intends to return Washington to the nuclear agreement and force Tehran to comply with the terms of the original agreements.

Recall that at the end of last year, the Iranian parliament adopted a law allowing an increase in the volume of uranium enrichment and the number of centrifuges.

As explained in Tehran, this decision was made, among other things, in connection with the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani and nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, as well as with the US attempts to restore UN sanctions against the Islamic republic.
