Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez continued to score, and his team rescued Atletico Madrid from the ambush of its host Eibar, and led them to a precious 2-1 victory Thursday evening in the 19th round of the Spanish Football League.
Suarez scored two goals, one goal in each half of the match, to turn Atletico's delay with a clean goal to a valuable victory, raising his score to 44 points in the lead, 7 points ahead of his neighbor and stubborn traditional rival Real Madrid.
There are two postponed matches for Atletico, compared to one for Real and Barcelona, who are third in the competition table with 34 points.
Eibar took the lead with a goal scored by goalkeeper Marco Dimitrovic from a penalty kick in the 12th minute, and Atletico returned with a goal scored by Suarez in the 40th minute, to end the first half with a 1-1 draw.

In the second half, a tie between the two teams remained until Suarez scored the second goal for him and Atletico from a penalty kick in the 89th minute, to freeze Eibar's balance at 19 points in 15th place after suffering the second successive defeat.
Atletico strengthened its position in the lead after winning its sixth successive victory, and took a new step on the road to regaining the local title, absent from it since winning its tenth title in the competition in the 2013-2014 season.

Suarez raised his score to 11 goals in 14 matches he played with the team in the competition this season, after he moved to the team from Barcelona.
