Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate state government passed a new ordinance on Friday to implement the federal-state agreement to contain the corona pandemic.

A spokesman for the State Chancellery announced on Friday that the Council of Ministers had approved the 16th Corona Control Ordinance.

The rules will come into effect next Monday and should be published on the Internet beforehand.

The ordinance extends closings in gastronomy, culture and retail with the exception of daily necessities until mid-February.

The compulsory attendance at schools is also lifted.

A new version of the mask requirement stipulates that so-called surgical masks or mouth-nose covers of the KN95 / N95 or FFP2 standards must be worn on buses, trains and in shops.

Everyday masks made of fabric are then no longer permitted there.
