Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - No risk of infection, no journey and maybe coffee and cake by the way: municipal council work via video conference seems to be the ideal solution in times of corona.

But the councils in many municipalities in Baden-Württemberg are having a hard time introducing video sessions.

With a view to 1101 municipalities in Baden-Württemberg, city council expert Norbert Brugger speaks of a hesitant assumption.

Under the impression of the first lockdown in May 2020, the state parliament decided the possibility of video conferences for municipal councils and anchored it in the municipal regulations.

The aim was to keep the municipal bodies working.

24 cities and municipalities decided to anchor the new regulation in their main statutes in the long term.

Among them are as small as Angelbachtal (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis) and as large as Karlsruhe.
