Hof (dpa / lby) - In the scandal surrounding the misappropriated funds at two subsidiaries of the Upper Franconian Chamber of Crafts, the Hof public prosecutor brought charges.

The former managing director of both companies is said to have used a company credit card privately for more than five years, the public prosecutor said on Friday.

This is said to have resulted in damage of around 120,000 euros.

He is also said to have transferred around 830,000 euros from companies to private accounts.

The accused was the managing director of the Gewerbetreuhand Oberfranken Steuerberatungsgesellschaft (GTO) and the Gewerbetreuhand Unternehmens- und Wirtschaftsberatungsgesellschaft (GTU).

The public prosecutor's office accuses the 60-year-old of embezzling funds in 652 cases at the expense of both companies.

The Upper Franconian Chamber of Crafts had promised a complete clarification of the scandal.
