Hamburg (dpa / lno) - In view of the growing income from the dog tax, the CDU is demanding more investments by the city for dogs and their owners in the Hamburg citizenship.
“It is time that the additional income achieved also reached the dog owners and did not sink into the budget,” said the environmental policy spokesman for the parliamentary group, Sandrokap, the German press agency.
His small question to the Senate had shown that the income from the dog tax increased by 400,000 euros from 2018 to 2020 from 4.2 million to 4.6 million euros.
The standard tax rate for a dog is 90 euros a year.
For so-called "dangerous dogs" you have to pay 600 euros.
The number of tax accounts for dog owners has risen by more than 2,100 to 55,601 since June last year. How many dogs of which races populate the city cannot be said because the update of the data for 2020 has not yet been completed, the Senate replied.
The use of the dog tax is not earmarked.

“The fact that another dog exercise area has been omitted since last year is definitely not a good development.
Hamburg needs more dog exercise areas and not less, ”he said.
