Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Despite the delivery delays in the vaccine deliveries by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the 50 district vaccination centers in Baden-Württemberg will start on Friday morning.

However, vaccination is only possible with the handbrake on at all locations.

Because significantly less vaccine is delivered than originally hoped and planned.

The vaccine manufacturer Pfizer had announced that it would have to reduce deliveries of the corona vaccine due to the expansion of its capacities at its central plant in Belgium.

According to the Ministry of Health, only 585 vaccination doses per week are available for an initial vaccination in each KIZ in the first two weeks.

These must be distributed again to vaccinations in the center itself as well as to vaccinations by the mobile vaccination teams in the nursing homes.

Therefore there should only be around 150 appointments per week and KIZ.

At the district level, vaccination should actually start on January 15, but the date had been postponed due to a lack of vaccine.

Originally, according to the calculations of the Ministry for the KIZ, up to 800 vaccination appointments could have been made every day, in the nine Central Vaccination Centers (ZIZ) and at the Mannheim location, around 1,500 more people per day, depending on the amount of vaccine.
