Twenty-eight people were arrested during a vast operation to fight a narcotics trafficking network in the Saint-Nazaire sector (Loire-Atlantique), the Pays-de-la-Loire gendarmerie announced Thursday.

The operation, which took place on Tuesday, mobilized around 320 gendarmes.

“The numerous investigations of the community of brigades of Montoir-de-Bretagne and of the research brigade of Saint-Nazaire made it possible to establish a network and then, acting under rogatory commission, to materialize multiple transactions relating to substantial quantities of 'heroin, cocaine and cannabis in France (Le Havre, Marseille and Toulouse) but also abroad (Spain) ”, said the gendarmerie in a press release.

Many people arrested unfavorably known to the courts

"On this occasion, 28 people, aged between 16 and 46, including three minors, were arrested in Saint-Nazaire, Trignac, Nantes ... some of which were unfavorably known to the courts," the statement said.

More than 80,000 euros were seized during searches as well as narcotics and weapons.

Quantities have not been disclosed.

"The investigation continues with presentations to the magistrate scheduled until tomorrow [this Friday]", adds the gendarmerie.

The public prosecutor of Saint-Nazaire is due to hold a press conference this Friday at 5 p.m. at the judicial tribunal.
