Aachen (dpa / lnw) - In the student apartment towers in Aachen, at least nine residents are verifiably infected with the corona virus.

Quarantine has been ordered for at least four floors in two houses, as the student union announced.

Voluntary corona tests were carried out on all floors of the four towers.

As the WDR reported on Friday evening, the test results should be available early next week.

"The Studierendenwerk directs its urgent appeal to all residents of the apartment towers to undergo the voluntary test in order to avoid further spreading of the virus!" Said the message published on Thursday.

Solidarity is now more important than ever.

According to the WDR report, the city region and public order office are said to have repeatedly encountered defensiveness in the voluntary tests on Thursday and Friday.

A minority is lacking awareness of the problem, said Michael Ziemons, the head of health for the urban region.

The majority, however, let themselves be tested voluntarily and stay in the room until the result.

As the Studierendenwerk also announced, a catering concept has been developed so that quarantined students can probably be supplied with meals twice a day from the currently closed Mensa Academica.
