Hamburg (dpa) - The Hamburg TV chef Tim Mälzer celebrated his 50th birthday with more than 3400 people and numerous celebrities.

"If I am no longer allowed to greet friends personally, then at least I'll do it online," said Mälzer on Friday evening at the beginning of the birthday cooking party, which was broadcast live on the Internet.

The prominent congratulators with greetings included Hamburg's Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD), Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD), the moderators Joko Winterscheidt, Jörg Pilawa, Johannes B. Kerner and Kai Pflaume, the TV chefs Jamie Oliver and Johann Lafer and the singers Sasha and Johannes Oerding.

The so-called cook-along was broadcast from the Mälzer restaurant “The Good Message” on the Outer Alster.

Mälzer cooked chicken fricassee with several hundred people.

The Pinneberger had previously sold around 2000 boxes with the corresponding ingredients, as he revealed during the live broadcast.

50 of them were even able to cook and talk to him directly in the live video chat.

Mälzer wants to use part of the income for a good cause.

Actually, Mälzer wanted to rent the Barclaycard arena for his birthday and celebrate with a good 12,000 people, as he said with a grin at the beginning of the online “Cook-Alongs”.

However, Corona thwarted all of his plans.

Mälzer turned 50 this Friday.
