In order to reduce the spread of covid-19 infection, upper secondary education has taken place at a distance after the Christmas holidays.

High school students have had distance learning since the beginning of December.

On Monday, the teaching changes to alternating distance teaching.

To make it easier for, among other things, students who live in cramped conditions or need extra support, the compulsory school board has made it possible for certain students to study on site at the school.

- We have said that the school should not be closed, but that if you have individual needs, you should be allowed to be there, says Axel Darvik (L).

New strategy should help

But that overcrowding risks affecting students' schooling negatively existed even before the pandemic.

According to Axel Darvik (L), chairman of the compulsory school committee, the corona pandemic has led the committee to open its eyes to the need for special efforts for students in overcrowded areas.

- We have developed the strategy during the pandemic, but it is long-term.

These include access to premises and special support for students who need it.

The goal is that there will be no vulnerable areas by 2025, he says.
