January 22, 2021 Initial deliveries of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the EU will fall short of pre-set targets due to a manufacturing glitch.

A spokesman for the pharmaceutical company said in a statement, according to the Guardian.

"Initial volumes will be lower than originally expected due to lower yields at one production site within our European supply chain," the spokesperson said.

"We will supply tens of millions of doses to the European Union in February and March, meanwhile we will continue to increase production volumes," he added.
