Berlin (dpa) - The writer and journalist Annett Gröschner ("Moscow Ice Cream") will receive the Berlin Great Art Prize endowed with 15,000 euros this year.

The Academy of the Arts announced on Friday in Berlin.

The award should take place on March 18th.

Gröschner, who comes from Magdeburg, has lived in Berlin since 1983.

"Annett Gröschner is a tireless chronicler of the city, its history, its change," said the jury's statement.

Gröschner is a “flaneur and a walking city archive at the same time”.

Her literary gaze has "a philanthropic sharpness that makes the city and everything that moves in it clearer, more complicated and richer in contrast."

Together with the Great Art Prize, six art prizes, each endowed with 5000 euros, will be awarded.

They go to the Indian concept artist Sajan Mani, the architecture firm Harquitectes in Barcelona, the Slovenian composer and musician Petra Strahovnik, the writer Lea Schneider, the Swiss actress Gina Haller and the multimedia artist Susann Maria Hempel.
