Berlin (dpa / bb) - Climate activists from Fridays for Future (FFF) protested in Berlin-Mitte against the use of gas as a transitional energy source in the fight against climate change.
On Friday morning, some young men and women with mouth and nose covers held a banner on the Marschall Bridge in the government district that read "Gas is not a bridge technology".
The reason for the nationwide FFF day of action under this motto is also the efforts of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to complete the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline. Spokeswoman Karla Wiegmann called for a construction stop on the pipeline and an end to fracking in Lower Saxony.
Climate protection should not be used as an excuse for subsidizing fossil fuels.
