Celle (dpa) - The trial, which has been going on for more than three years, against the alleged Germany chief of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia, Abu Walaa, is entering the home straight.

The judge intends to close the taking of evidence on the next day of the hearing and to accept the pleadings from the federal prosecutor's office and the defense, the higher regional court in Celle announced on Friday.

The next trial date is planned for Tuesday (January 26th).

The Iraqi Abu Walaa and three co-defendants are accused of radicalizing young people, especially in the Ruhr area and the Hildesheim area, Islamistically and sending them to the IS battle areas.

You have been on trial for supporting ISIS and membership in the terrorist militia since September 2017.

The criminal chamber pointed out that despite the intended end, requests for evidence could still be made.

There are also motions on which the Senate has not yet decided.

It is therefore unclear whether the closing lectures could actually begin in the coming week.
