Weimar (dpa / th) - The trial against a Thuringian police officer who is said to have betrayed official secrets is being continued before the Weimar District Court.

Several witnesses were invited, said a court spokeswoman.

A judgment may also be made.

In their indictment, the public prosecutor's office accuses the man of having passed information from the police's internal computer systems to third parties in a total of 35 cases in 2017 and 2018.

In some cases, the man is said to have asked a woman, with whom he chatted via a messenger service, for sex in return.

The accused was doing his job with the police in Weimar.

The man's defense attorney had stated at the beginning of the trial that his client had behaved correctly. The fact that the 42-year-old passed on information was "lawful police behavior," said the lawyer. The public prosecutor's office had sharply rejected this assessment.
