Former U.S. President Trump upheld the tradition of leaving handwritten letters to his successors.

US President Biden said on the 20th (local time), "Former President Trump left a very generous letter," reported by foreign media such as Reuters, AFP and Daily USA Today.

He said, "This letter is personal, so I won't comment on it until I tell him (I'm going to make it public)," he said. "But it was generous."

The letter left by the predecessor to his successor, USA Today said, confessed the grievances, loneliness, and rewards that he generally faces as a president, or contained virtues and requests for success beyond the party.

It is a tradition of the White House that a president who has finished his term of office leaves a message of virtues and recommendations to the new president.

President Trump also received a letter from his predecessor, former President Obama, at the ``Decision Desk'' in the White House office when he took office in January 2017.

At the time, former President Obama gave Trump four advice, saying, "We are just going through this position for a while."

The prospect of leaving a letter was also raised because President Trump did not resolve the uncomfortable relationship with Biden, such as leaving Washington DC without attending the inauguration ceremony of his successor on the 20th.

Meanwhile, President Trump's wife Melania also left a letter to Biden's wife, Jill, CNN reported.

Former Vice President Mike Pence also left a handwritten letter to Vice President Camela Harris, USA Today reported.
