Bochum (dpa) - A 20-euro ticket for parking on the bike path has turned into a record-breaking fine of probably over 14,200 euros in Bochum.

A 57-year-old trucker from the Nuremberg area had shown himself to be so unapologetic that the officers decided to take a closer look at his vehicle and tachograph.

At that moment, the truck driver became very subdued, said a police spokesman on Thursday.

During the control period of 28 calendar days, not only various speed violations were found, but also almost daily violations of driving and rest times.

When the digital readout software calculated a fine of 14,200 euros, the police were also speechless.

The 20 euros for wrong parking are also added.

Not only the truck driver, but also his freight forwarder now receive unpleasant mail.
