Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - The Neubrandenburg public prosecutor's office has brought charges against a boat operator who is said to have caused a serious accident on the Tollensesee near Klein Nemerow in the summer of 2020.

The accused is accused of negligent bodily harm, as chief prosecutor Gerd Zeisler said on Thursday.

The rotating propeller on the man's boat caught a swimmer who lost his arm.

The 48-year-old, who had marked himself with a swimming buoy, survived the accident on June 25 despite his serious injury.

The 62-year-old boatman from the vicinity of Neubrandenburg missed the necessary care that day, said Zeisler.

Otherwise the well-trained swimmer would have been easy to see, also because of the buoy as a marker.

The motorboat had hit the man about 200 meters from the bank near Klein Nemerow.

The police searched several days for the severed body part, which was found in the lake after a week.

In the accident, the skipper and his 63-year-old wife, who was on board, were shocked.
