Munich (dpa) - The TV group ProSiebenSat.1 ended the past year better than expected.

The turnover fell from 4.13 billion euros in the previous year to 4.04 billion euros, the operating profit from 872 to 700 million euros, as the company announced on Thursday evening in Unterföhring.

In November, ProSiebenSat.1 had expected worse numbers, although it was already profiting from the return of its advertising customers and had already ironed out its loss from the second quarter.

Despite the renewed lockdown, the television company was able to exceed its own forecast.

ProSiebenSat.1 normally generates 40 percent of its annual profit in the last quarter.

Shortly before, ProSiebenSat.1 had published a voting rights notification from the Italian TV group Mediaset, which had increased its stake in ProSiebenSat.1 from 9 to 12 percent.

The Milanese have access to other shares via financial instruments.

Just a week ago, the US financial investor Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) sold almost all of its shares in ProSiebenSat.1.

The KKR share fell from 6.6 percent to 0.3 percent.
