On his second day in office, US President Joe Biden signed a series of edicts aimed at getting the corona pandemic under control.

"We didn't get into this mess overnight and it will take months to reverse that," Biden said on Thursday.

"Despite the best of intentions, we will experience setbacks." But help is on the way, he promised the Americans.

The ten executive orders that Biden signed are designed to increase vaccine production and testing facilities, lay the foundation for schools and businesses to reopen, and immediately increase the use of masks.

Among other things, Americans will have to wear these when traveling in the future.

Biden had already ordered the mandatory use of masks in government buildings on Wednesday.
