January 21, 2021 There are 7,246, 92% of the total, the Municipalities that have requested access to the Fund for technological innovation and digitization managed by the Minister Paola Pisano to financially support the administrations in the modernization processes.

This was announced by a note from the ministry explaining that the municipalities are thus moving towards digitization, as foreseen by the dl on 'Simplification and digital innovation', adopting the

to allow access to services. integrating the

for electronic payments and starting the migration of services to the

, to facilitate its use even from smartphones.

"It is a good result - commented Pisano - because it highlights a common strategy for the digitization of administrations, both central and local. Municipalities initiate or accelerate the digital transformation process with the aim of providing digitized and really simple to use services. The path is still long and not without obstacles, but we are following it together with Regions and Municipalities in a cohesive way. We will continue to invest in the transformation of services, for the benefit of citizens and businesses ".

The resources made available to the Bodies, the note recalls, amount to 43 million out of a total of 50 million of the entire Fund, which became structural with the latest budget law.

The quotas, assigned to the Municipalities on the basis of the resident population, will be disbursed in two installments, after verification of the progress of the digitization processes: the first, equal to 20%, for activities completed by 28 February 2021;

the second, for the remaining 80%, by 31 December 2021 upon verification of the activities that have taken place.

Most of the requests for access to the Fund came from small municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants.

The municipalities that have joined the public notice also include Procida, the Italian capital of culture 2022, and Matera, the European capital of culture in 2019.
