Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Stricter mask requirements, more home office, longer lockdown - the federal and state governments are tightening the reins in the fight against the corona pandemic.

Baden-Württemberg supports the decisions made on Tuesday evening - the lockdown is also to be extended to February 14 in the southwest.

In education, however, a special path is emerging.

Primary schools and daycare centers in this country should gradually open again from February 1st.

Since these are extensive interventions, Parliament wants to have a say.

The MPs therefore come together today for another special session to debate the resolutions of the federal-state switchboard.

And as in the negotiations between Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Minister, heated discussions can also be expected in the plenary session in Stuttgart.

Not even in the green-black state government speaks with one voice in corona policy.

The opposition will try to work out these inconsistencies.

Education Minister Susanne Eisenmann (CDU) had spoken out against further tightening before the meeting of the federal and state governments - for this she received unusual support from the opposition.

The FDP even wants to introduce a corresponding motion for a resolution today.

"We will support the attitude of Minister of Education and Culture Eisenmann not to support any further decisions in the direction of additional tightening of the corona measures and restrictions for the population and the economy and will put this to the vote," said parliamentary group leader Hans-Ulrich Rülke.

However, the government factions do not want to drive a wedge between themselves - and oppose their own motion.

"I can reassure Mr. Rülke: The government coalition will also support the course of Education Minister Susanne Eisenmann in its application," said CDU parliamentary group leader Wolfgang Reinhart.

One can live with the resolutions of the federal and state governments.

"Basically not much will change for Baden-Württemberg," said Reinhart.

But he criticized additional regulations for the economy in terms of home office.

"We are certain that employers are also willing to voluntarily exhaust all possibilities for working from home."
