Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - With the construction of a new high-bay warehouse, Lufthansa is tackling the conversion of its freight center at Frankfurt Airport.

The subsidiary Lufthansa Cargo AG announced on Thursday that the supervisory board had decided on the infrastructure program with investments in the low three-digit million range.

The work that has already started should last until 2028 with ongoing operation and it should be possible to adapt it to changing requirements in a modular manner.

The logistics center at the largest transshipment point for air freight in Germany is already over 30 years old.

Lufthansa had already stopped plans for a completely new building costing 1.3 billion euros in 2016.
