Essen (dpa / lnw) - A resident and two employees of the facility were injured in a knife attack in a dormitory for addicts.

A 35-year-old resident who is said to have attacked the 41-year-old roommate as well as a 29-year-old employee and her 64-year-old colleague on Thursday was arrested by police shortly after the act, the police and the public prosecutor jointly announced on Thursday.

During the operation in the Essen district of Frohnhausen, the knife of the alleged perpetrator was also secured.

The injured were reportedly taken to hospitals.

The severity of their injuries and the background to the crime were initially unclear.

The police set up a homicide squad.
