Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Strong wind and gusts of wind swept through the southwest on Thursday.

In the morning, hurricane-like gusts with wind speeds of up to 104 kilometers per hour were found on the Feldberg, as an employee of the German Weather Service (DWD) announced.

Wind speeds of around 50 kilometers per hour were measured in the Stuttgart area and up to 75 kilometers per hour in the Karlsruhe area.

People should beware of flying objects and falling branches throughout the day, it was warned.

Until Friday night, the DWD expects gusts of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour in the lowlands and 80 kilometers per hour in the mountains.

During the night there could be isolated hurricane gusts of up to 140 kilometers per hour on the Black Forest peaks.

According to the forecasts, it will still be stormy in the Black Forest on Friday, otherwise the wind will decrease significantly across the country on Friday morning.
