January 21, 2021 Among the iconic images of this Inauguration Day will remain that of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, the last Democrat to surrender in the race for the primary with Joe Biden.

Arriving among the first on Capitol Hill, in a frost-whipped Washington, the senator sat up, face mask, parka, and a pair of old-fashioned woolen gloves that didn't go unnoticed.

On social media, the enlargement of the accessory has depopulated.

The photo garnered tens of thousands of views in just a few hours.

Many wanted to know where Sanders had bought those Charlie Brown gloves with black, brown and white diamonds.

At the end of the evening, through the tam tam of social networks, the origin was traced.

The gloves were handmade by a teacher from Vermont, Jen Ellis, who gave them to the senator two years ago.

The material used for what has become a hashtag, #BerniesMittens, is a hymn to environmentalism: wool and recycled plastic.

Ellis makes them to order and gives them to friends.

On Instagram, followers have recovered a photo taken a year ago that shows the various designs available.

Interviewed by CBS, Sanders explained his choice: "We in Vermont are used to the cold and we are not very concerned with fashion, we are interested in being warm, and that's what happened today".
