Five people were killed in a fire at the world’s largest vaccine plant in Pune in western India on Thursday.
However, the Serum Institute of India assured that the fire will have no effect on the production of coronary vaccines.
According to the factory management, the flames mainly destroyed the new part of the factory, which was still under construction.
The plant is spread over a wide area and is being expanded greatly.

Neither the authorities nor the factory representatives could immediately say where the fire originated.
The plant manufactures a coronary vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford.
The Serum Institute of India was the world’s largest producer of vaccines even before the corona. The plant produced about 1.5 billion doses of vaccine annually.
