January 21, 2021 Yesterday the Prime Minister, today the leaders of the center-right: Matteo Salvini, Giorgia Meloni and Antonio Tajani.

Sergio Mattarella's agenda begins to fill up with appointments that will mark the stages of verification of the seal, and consistency, of the new majority that has won the double test of trust but with numbers at the limit of practicability in the daily life of parliament.

Brief and "interlocutory" yesterday's conversation with Giuseppe Conte, today it's up to the grievances of the opposition.

Where, however, the 'sensational' leaks from FI to Conte's benefit do not calm the climate, fueling the suspicion of a 'two ovens' policy by Silvio Berlusconi.

The President of the Republic places the country and the problems of citizens at the center of every reflection in a phase of health and economic crisis.

In the two meetings a week ago with the Prime Minister, immediately before and immediately after Matteo Renzi's 'tear', Mattarella had asked to "get out of uncertainty quickly" and everything suggests that yesterday, too, an eye on the calendar was given, while Brussels awaits the Italian plan for the Next generation EU.

Taking note of the secrecy surrounding yesterday's meeting, its brevity remains to be assessed, a probable indicator of the fact that no suggestions have arrived from the Head of State, in respect of his role as referee, without hiding his underlying concern.

He listened, Mattarella, what Conte had to say, he took note of the vote that ensures a numerical majority that does not bring down the government, but certainly the fragility of this majority does not escape him, which must overcome historical challenges and therefore needs large numbers, filled with meaning by a convinced support of the parties and not limited to 'spot' arrivals.

And here, Conte also reported on the outcome of the majority summit, and therefore on the desire to create a new parliamentary group, precisely to overcome the difficulties in the Chambers.

And here we are in Montecitorio, then, where the 'scouting' continues entrusted to a long-time politician such as Bruno Tabacci, who would have already collected 13 adhesions, while in the Senate there are many who are moving to arrive at a new group that can keep up with the commissions.

Meloni: "Government stands on turncoats, without numbers you have to vote"

With a single marginal vote in the Senate - 157 to 156 - "in a normal world", the government should resign.

Giorgia Meloni declares it in an interview with "Corriere della Sera".

"I'm saying that it is irresponsible to go ahead with a government that stands up thanks to the turncoat vote attracted by promises and prebends of all kinds, echoed even in Conte's speech in the courtroom - adds the president of Fdi, answering the question if we are ahead to an 'illegitimate' executive - we witnessed a trade, between the lines we could read the names and surnames of those he asked for help in exchange for some reassurance. An absolute scandal, which also damages the image of the country ".

The opposition to the government will be tough but, Meloni assures us, "we will never harm the Italians, ever. But we will do everything possible to have a government up to the moment. It is our opposition task to demonstrate that this executive does not have the numbers. : they do not have a majority in 10 committees out of 14. With all the consequences that follow. Parliament has been blocked for two months because of this crisis that they have opened: it does little and badly, it is almost immobile. From now on it will be even worse, and we can't afford it. "

Do you expect Mattarella to dissolve the Chambers early, even if the government has obtained a majority?

"And why not? Not me, but a constitutionalist like Mortati has interpreted article 81 of the Charter as the faculty of the head of state to dissolve the Chambers when he recognizes that there is too much distance, there is discrepancy, between the country and the Palace. And it is practically the photograph of this moment. I asked the elections even when I had only 3%, because I think that in difficult moments for the country, in which decisions must be made, a strong government is needed in terms of numbers and popular mandate ".
