In Turkey, the trial of Gönül Örs from Cologne continues on Thursday, January 21, for alleged terrorist propaganda for the banned Kurdish Workers' Party PKK.

Örs' attorney Ayse Celik told the German press agency that she hoped for the ban on her client to be lifted.

A verdict was actually expected this Thursday.

However, Celik said she did not expect it because the prosecution's closing statement had not yet been received.

Gönül Örs is the daughter of singer Hozan Cane, who was also accused of terrorism and was released in October after two years in prison in Istanbul.

According to the lawyer, both women want to take part in the trial.

Örs is accused of terrorist propaganda for the banned Kurdish Workers' Party PKK, deprivation of liberty with the use of force or deception as well as “kidnapping or confiscation” of means of transport.

The background is a protest in 2012 on a ship in Cologne.

According to the lawyer, investigations against Örs were stopped in Germany.

The Cologne resident spent three months in custody in Turkey and was then under house arrest for six months.

An exit ban has been in place since June.

She is not allowed to leave Turkey.
