Mainz (dpa / lrs) - According to the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Health, digitization offers many opportunities to improve health care for the population.

However, it is important that patient and data protection issues are observed, said Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler (SPD) on Thursday at the opening of a digital congress on the future of the healthcare system.

According to the ministry, the congress was the start of a so-called participation process, at the end of which a “master plan for the digital health system Rhineland-Palatinate 2030” should be created.

According to the information, not only specialists but also patients and their relatives should participate in this process.

Projects and measures from the master plan are then expected to be implemented in 2022 and 2023.

Funds totaling two million euros should be available for this.

It is not the first participation process: In 2017, the state government launched such a project to combat poverty.
