Hamburg (dpa) - Commerzbank wants to comment on its restructuring plans when the balance sheet is presented on February 11.

A spokeswoman for the MDax group said on Thursday in Frankfurt.

Previously, a media report said that Commerzbank boss Manfred Knof wanted to cut the institute's branch network in Germany by half.

The number of locations should shrink from the current 800 to 400, reported the “Manager Magazin”.

The authors referred to "connoisseurs of the money house".

The downsizing of the network is one of the key points of Knof's redevelopment plan.

The spokeswoman did not want to comment on the information about the branch closings.

Last year, Commerzbank had not reopened 200 branches that had been closed due to the corona pandemic.

As a result, the number of locations has already dropped from around 1,000 to around 800.

The former Deutsche Bank and Allianz manager Knof took over the management of Commerzbank at the turn of the year.
