Cologne (dpa) - Ken Follett is thanks: The business of the Cologne publishing house Bastei Lübbe is better than expected.

The listed company announced on Thursday evening that it expects sales of around 90 million euros in the 2020/21 financial year, which runs until the end of March - that is, five million more so far.

The operating result (before interest and taxes, EBIT) should be seven to eight million euros and thus two million higher than previously planned.

In the previous financial year, the company had earned EUR 81.5 million and posted an EBIT of EUR 4.1 million.

As reasons for the good development, the company pointed to new publications by bestselling authors such as Follett ("Kingsbridge") and to the first book by the drugstore chain boss Dirk Rossmann, who had written a climate change thriller ("The ninth arm of the octopus") - these Books sold better than expected.

The demand for works that had appeared a long time ago was also high.
