Elmshorn (dpa / lno) - A 38-year-old man was found with a blood alcohol level of 4.01 per mille on Tuesday afternoon on a train in Elmshorn train station (Pinneberg district).

As the federal police announced on Wednesday, the train attendant had called the officials because the man was obviously sitting on the regional express without a ticket.

The initially unresponsive traveler was taken into protective custody and handed over to the crew of an alarmed ambulance.

The regional express then continued its journey.

According to the Federal Center for Health Education, alcohol consumption from 3.0 per mille can be life-threatening.
