Bramsche (dpa / lni) - A 54-year-old woman was killed in a collision between two cars on a federal road near Bramsche (Osnabrück district).
The accident on Wednesday afternoon occurred because the woman's husband, who was sitting at the wheel, turned around - and overlooked an approaching car, the police said.
The driver of the other car was seriously but not critically injured.
The person who caused the accident and another passenger suffered minor injuries.
The 54-year-old was on the B68 with his wife and a 22-year-old passenger.
During the turning maneuver, he crashed into the passenger side of the other car.
He and the 22-year-old injured themselves slightly.
The wife was first reanimated, but died shortly afterwards at the scene of the accident.
The federal highway had to be closed for around two hours.
