The National Police are investigating the death of two people in a fire that broke out this morning in a slum built with metal sheets in the Malaga neighborhood of Churriana.

The bodies were completely charred and, after a first inspection,

the deceased would be of advanced age.

As reported by the Emergency 112 Andalusia service, attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Junta de Andalucía, the events were known around 2:20 this Wednesday, when several calls for help were received that warned of a fire in a sheet metal house located on the Camino de la Sierra, at the end of the Cantera del Sillero.

The Local Police, the National Police, the Public Health Emergencies Company (EPES) and the Royal Fire Department of Malaga were quickly alerted, which upon arrival they encountered a "fireball".

The flames had completely engulfed the sub-dwelling and, despite the speed of fire fighting services to put them out,

the entire building burned down.

During the inspection, firefighters found two burned corpses that could not be identified.

The first investigations suggest that the deceased would be two elderly people who accumulated a large amount of belongings in the building, a circumstance that could cause the rapid expansion of the flames and the voracity of the fire.

The National Police has taken over an investigation that, in its initial stage, points to an accidental origin of the fire.

However, we are awaiting the results of the visual inspection of the Scientific Police and the tests to achieve a full identification of both dead.

When it is known who they were, it will be known if they received any kind of assistance from the Malaga City Council, police sources have reported.
