Konstanz (dpa / lsw) - Telephone fraudsters have stolen 20,000 euros from an elderly couple in Allensbach on Lake Constance.
According to police on Wednesday, they made the two seniors believe with a phone call the day before that their son needed money to avert imprisonment after a serious car accident.
The seniors gave the money to a stranger.
According to the police, there were a large number of attempts at fraud in the Konstanz district that day.
In Pforzheim, a bank employee prevented damage of several thousand euros.
An elderly couple had wanted to withdraw the amount, the police said.
Previously, fraudsters had also faked them on the phone that their son-in-law needed financial help after an accident.
