Bad Hersfeld (dpa / lhe) - A former high-ranking employee (57) of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district administration has to answer before the Bad Hersfeld district court for taking advantage.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the man of leasing printers and copiers for years from a managing director known to him personally and of having ordered copier paper worth several hundred thousand euros without observing the district's allocation guidelines.

Accordingly, he should have put the contracts out to tender and obtained comparative offers.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the defendant is said to have accepted invitations from the entrepreneur to business lunches and hotel stays in gratitude for the award of the contract. Taking advantage in the public service is punishable by up to three years imprisonment or a fine.
