China News Service, January 20. According to Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore’s vaccination work is about to be expanded. The Ministry of Health of the country plans to gradually establish 36 vaccination centers nationwide starting in February.

After these centers are fully opened, more than 70,000 people can be vaccinated every day.

Another 10 mobile teams will be sent to nursing homes and other places to provide collective vaccination services.

The Ministry of Health of Singapore recently tendered for these vaccination centers and services.

According to the tender documents, vaccination centers can be set up in vacant schools, public clubs and gymnasiums, and each center can accommodate at least 2,000 people per day.

The vaccination center will also remain in operation for up to 12 months. The opening hours are from 8 am to 10 pm every day, including weekends and public holidays.

Mobile vaccination teams will go to places designated by the authorities to carry out large-scale vaccination work.

Health Minister Yan Jinyong revealed in early January that the government will arrange these mobile teams to nursing homes and elder care centers to vaccinate elderly people with limited mobility.

Each mobile team will consist of one doctor, four nurses and three administrative staff.

With the gradual opening of newly established vaccination centers, the authorities may adjust the number of vaccination centers and mobile teams required according to the situation.

Singapore is expected to complete the universal vaccination in the third quarter or by the end of the year. Medical and frontline personnel have been vaccinated successively from December 30, 2020.

Associate Professor Gu Alie, Associate Dean (Research) of the Suriford School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, welcomes the authorities' preparations to open more vaccination centers.

He said that considering that each person must be vaccinated with two doses, this means that Singapore will be able to complete two doses of vaccination for about 1 million people every month.

"This will help our country achieve its goal of vaccinating the majority of the adult population within this year."
