Bützow / Rostock (dpa / mv) - The Rostock public prosecutor's office continues to investigate a 54-year-old man from Bützow (Rostock district) on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm.

As a spokesman for the public prosecutor said on Wednesday, the suspect is said to have mistreated his father, with whom he lived, several times in a dispute.

After the last incident on December 27, 2020, the 88-year-old victim was admitted to a clinic with injuries.

He died there two weeks later.

The autopsy has now revealed pneumonia as the cause of death, the spokesman said.

Nevertheless, the circumstances of the conflict on December 27th in the apartment and possible further acts of violence would have to be clarified in advance.

A neighbor heard the noise and loud argument from the 88-year-old's apartment in Bützow on December 27 and called the officials.

The reason for the argument is said to have been the pensioner's criticism of the son's alcohol consumption.

While the injured was rescued by paramedics and brought to a clinic, the 54-year-old was discovered sleeping in an adjoining room.

He measured 2.8 per thousand breath alcohol.

He has not yet given any information about the allegations, it said.
