Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The start of the payment of bridging aid for companies affected by the corona crisis takes at least five to six weeks in Brandenburg.

“One of the reasons for this is that the rules of the game are changed with every new aid program,” said Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach (SPD) on Wednesday in the state parliament's economic committee.

New software has to be created for each.

In addition, the minister stressed that the applications must be adequately examined.

"It's about large sums of millions, these are all tax money," said Steinbach.

"We'd be chased to hell if we used the takeaway effects."

The companies affected by the lockdown are to be reimbursed 75 percent of their corresponding sales in the previous year for the period of the closure with the November and December aid.

Of the 8466 applications from companies for "November aid" with a total volume of almost 90 million euros, almost 3700 applications have now been finally approved.

The total amount of almost 43 million already paid out also includes the advance payments to more than 90 percent of the companies.

Due to technical problems, the applications could not be paid until January 12th.

In the case of the “December aid”, a good third of the 5,700 applications with almost 2000 were finally approved, said Steinbach.

Of the total volume of just under 62.6 million euros that had been applied for, around 23.4 million euros had also been paid out over a third.

Around 95 percent of the applicants have already received advance payments.
