Munich (dpa / lby) - With better pay, better working conditions and measures against overload, Bavaria’s state parliament green want to make social professions more attractive.

This emerges from a strategy paper that the parliamentary group intends to adopt at its spring retreat that started on Wednesday in Munich.

"We now have to organize and finance care work in a fairer and more sustainable manner, instead of just distributing bonuses and applauding," says the four-page decision paper.

At the beginning of the pandemic there was brief applause on the balconies, nothing has happened politically since then, said parliamentary group leader Katharina Schulze.

This must change, the necessary recognition and appreciation for the important service to people must also be paid appropriately.

The paper also stipulates that women, who mostly work in social professions, earn as much as their male colleagues, more women in management positions and more opportunities for part-time training.

Specifically, in the area of early childhood education, for example, the Greens are calling for a training allowance from day one, more wages for educational specialists, additional fees for special qualifications and tasks and a better staffing ratio.

According to this, there should be ten children for one educator, not eleven as before.

According to the Greens, contribution grants are no longer to be distributed regardless of income.

According to the paper, all skilled workers in child and youth welfare, such as social workers, should receive remuneration during their training and higher allowances for shift work.

In the care sector, for example, the Greens suggest further reforming training and integrating care for the elderly here.

"We also stand for an academization of nursing and would like to found a faculty for nursing science," it continues.

In order to reduce the workload, a new number of positions is needed, but the Greens do not mention specific figures at this point.
