Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Many of the planned deportations from Hessen fail.

The main reasons for this are that the people concerned were not found in their accommodation, there was resistance or they were in hiding, said Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) on a small request from the AfD parliamentary group in Wiesbaden.

In 2019, out of 3,656 planned deportations, 1975 did not take place.

From January to October 2020, the project failed 564 times with 1,216 planned deportations.

According to the Interior Minister, the number of convicted criminals deported from Hesse was 447 in 2019.

From January to October of last year, there were 215 criminally convicted people.

The year-on-year reduction was due to the corona pandemic and the associated greatly reduced return options, said the CDU politician.
