- I see great opportunities for cooperation between our two countries, says Stefan Löfven in SVT's Aktuellt.

- Our roots in the US are very strong and we have a lot to offer each other in terms of innovation, climate change and digitalisation.

Stefan Löfven further states that he hopes that Sweden can develop its cooperation with the United States over the next four years, to be similar to the cooperation Sweden has with countries such as Germany.

International cooperation

But the Prime Minister not only hopes for increased bilateral co-operation, but also for improved international co-operation.

Joe Biden's promise that the United States will re-enter the Paris Agreement and the World Health Organization (WHO) as soon as possible is a signal of strength, not least for international climate work.

- After Biden wants to return to the Paris Agreement, we have a completely different breeding ground for climate change, he says.

The relationship between the EU and the US, the so-called transatlantic link, which deteriorated significantly during Donald Trump's years in power, will also improve, Stefan Löfven believes.

- Donald Trump considered that the EU was founded to make it difficult for the US.

Joe Biden realizes the benefits of co-operation, he says.

Trade issues still difficult

However, the Prime Minister warns that there are areas and issues where everything may not be easier, at least at once.

"Trade issues can be such an area," he says, referring to the tariffs that the United States has introduced in recent years and the country's increasingly aggressive approach to free trade.

But, even if some issues and negotiations will continue to be tough, the most important thing is that it will be much easier to handle them from now on, says Stefan Löfven.

- It will be a completely different conversational climate.
