Vaccination against covid-19 in nursing homes around the country is in full swing.

To get an overview of the situation, city epidemiologist Anders Tegnell, head of the health and medical care section in Swedish municipalities and regions (SKR) Emma Spak and the national vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström also participated in the meeting with the three vaccine coordinators from Kalmar, Värmland and Västerbotten.

- We are up and running in all municipalities and during the week, staff in care activities and home care services have begun.

We have also started vaccinating staff who work in the intensive care unit, says Marie Ragnarsson, vaccine coordinator in Region Kalmar.

Differences between regions

During the pandemic, the differences between the regions' resources and conditions have repeatedly been reminded, not least with regard to testing.

But Lena Hallengren believes that it is not possible to compare testing with vaccination, as Sweden has a long experience of vaccinations.

- This is something we can do.

Then it will not look the same everywhere.

It can have both its disadvantages but also its advantages.

Those who are going to do this in Kalmar County know Kalmar County and know the conditions there, says Hallengren (S).

Great interest in helping

In its search for help to vaccinate, the Kalmar region has had an advertisement out there asking for help for vaccination by the public.

- There we have a good interest bank of around 170 people who want to help vaccinate, says Marie Ragnarsson.

Already now the region is getting help from some of those who have heard from it.

At the same time, a procurement is underway with external actors prior to the vaccination of the public and it is planned for larger vaccination centers.
