Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata scored twice to lead Juventus to a 2-0 win over Napoli and win the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday.

Napoli, who beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia final last season, nearly advanced midway through the first half but Juventus goalkeeper Vuicchie Chesney saved a header from Herving Lozano.

Substitute Federico Chiesa immediately left his mark at the start of the second half, but Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina denied him the goal.

Ronaldo opened the scoring from close range in the 64th minute.

Ronaldo raised his score to 760 goals in official matches, to become the best goalscorer in football history, surpassing the goal of Austrian-Czech Joseph Pekan, who scored 759 goals in his career.

Lorenzo Insigne missed an equalizer when he knocked a penalty off the field after Dres Mertens was blocked.

Coach Gennaro Gattuso's side attacked in stoppage time, but Juventus clinched the win from a counterattack through Morata to secure Andrea Pirlo his first ever coaching title.

Juventus won the Super Cup for the ninth time (a record), while Napoli were stuck in just two titles.

Ronaldo said after the end of the match, "It was a game full of suffering and the stadium was very bad but we handled well with the match. We are happy to win an important title ... We had to change the situation after the defeat by Inter Milan in the League. I hope this victory gives us confidence in the next matches."
