Munich (dpa / lby) - The general ban on alcohol in public spaces in Bavaria is specified.

In future, the municipalities will define the places in their municipality where alcohol consumption will be prohibited, said Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) on Wednesday after a meeting of his cabinet in Munich.

“We don't want a party to go,” emphasized Söder.

This would massively contradict the principle of reducing mobility, he said.

On Tuesday, the Bavarian Administrative Court (VGH) suspended the Bavarian alcohol ban pending a decision in the main proceedings, thereby granting an urgent application from a private person. As a justification, the court said that according to the Infection Protection Act, alcohol bans are only provided in certain public places. The order of a ban on alcohol for the entire area of the Free State thus exceeded the statutory authority granted by the federal government.
