Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The Sachsen-Anhalter must only wear FFP2 or surgical masks in shops and in local public transport from next week.

The state government agreed that the new corona rules should only come into force on Monday at midnight, said Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) on Wednesday after a cabinet meeting.

After the federal-state talks on Tuesday, Haseloff initially announced that the new rules should apply from Friday.

With the postponement to Monday, the state government wants to give companies and citizens the opportunity to adapt to the new rules and to purchase more effective masks, the head of government said.

The text for the corresponding state ordinance is currently being prepared.

The ministers should approve it between Thursday and Friday by circulation procedure.

The federal and state governments agreed on Tuesday in an hour-long meeting to extend the current lockdown to February

14 and to tighten some.

In addition to the stricter mask requirement, the restrictions in hotspots are to be enforced more strictly.

If employers do not offer their employees a home office, they should also have to justify this.

Schools, daycare centers, restaurants and shops that do not offer everyday goods will remain closed.
