Bendorf (dpa / lrs) - Unknown perpetrators caused chaos with a cyber attack on the city administration in Bendorf (Mayen-Koblenz district).

According to the municipality on Wednesday, an attack on the computer systems took place on the weekend.

The causes are currently being analyzed intensively and work is being carried out to make the systems operational again.

"So far, there have not been any indications from the internal or external investigations by the responsible bodies that data has leaked," the municipality said on its website.

As a result of the attack, the citizen service was therefore only efficient.

However, communication was initially limited to telephone contact.

Just a few days ago, hackers probably caused massive technical problems on the most important platform for digital learning in Rhineland-Palatinate. The servers provided for this - high-performance computers for external access - were temporarily unavailable on January 4th, the first day of school of the year.
