The French player of Vitality Mathieu Herbaut, alias "Zywoo", was voted best player of the world on Counter-Strike for the second consecutive year, announced Wednesday the specialized site Hltv.org.

At 20, he was ahead of the Ukrainian Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, the other big star in the competitions of Counter-Strike, a first-person shooter which is one of the most popular video games in esports.

Already consecrated last year, he had become at 19 the youngest player and the first Frenchman to obtain this title, the esport equivalent of the Ballon d'Or in football.

Considered a video game prodigy, Zywoo has been defending the colors of the French team Vitality for two years.

As soon as he arrived on the professional circuit, just after his baccalaureate, he established himself on the competitive scene thanks to his sense of the game and his talent which seem intuitive.

For his team, he is quite simply "the best esports athlete currently in activity".

"No other athlete can currently claim to dominate a major discipline so outrageously," said Vitality, leading esports club in France, in a statement.

"Knowing that observers judge that my performances make me deserve to obtain this title again is very gratifying, it is an incomparable form of recognition", reacted Zywoo.

Last December, Vitality announced that it had extended its nugget until 2024, a very long period for an esports contract.

With Zywoo, the bee team finished last season in 2nd place in the world rankings on Counter-Strike.
